Citizens raise concern over growing insecurity in Owerri

The residents of Owerri have raised concerns over the growing insecurity in the state capital of Owerri. The past week have been filled with so much bloodshed and violent deaths of young people. Over the weekend, a staff of Orange Room locate in World bank, New Owerri and this week, a student of the Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education was chased into the premises of Federal Medical Center Owerri and murdered.

It is sad how human beings have a lost their humanity. Residents who called in during a live phone in program of HotFM Owerri last month also shared their concerns on the security and welfare of the elderly women and young people who sweep various parts of Owerri in the wee hours of the morning. There have been reported cases of attacks on these people in the past and callers called on security agencies and the government to ensure that they are safe while discharging their duties.

Residents living at Douglas and Mbaise road have also raised concerns of insecurity s they hear gunshots most nights which keeps them restless till daybreak.
