The usual mindset of a good number of Nigerian students, undergraduates and graduates is they will apply for and get a job as soon as they complete the mandatory one year National Youth service. Obviously this has not always worked out as a good number of them spend a lot of time at home with no meaningful employment after service.
In an exclusive interview with AlaOwerri.com, Hon. Uka Emmanuel said there is no need for people to keep waiting for white collar jobs that are not forth coming. He made the comment while answering questions from one of our correspondents, Livinus Nwachukwu. He further revealed that a lot of people come from outside the state to patronize the artisans in the state.
“Imo is the eastern heartland and people from Onitsha and Aba are coming to patronize the artisans’ village in Imo state. Ours is located at Naze, in about 10 acres of land” he said.
Hon. Uka also used the opportunity to share the core mandate of his committee which was set up to reorganize all artisans in the state for maximum productivity.
