It was a very difficult experience for the residents of Owerri during the fuel scarcity that hit most towns in the country few weeks ago. Most fuel vendors sold as high as N200 per litre while the black market sellers sold up to N250 per litre. Many stations were sealed off by the DPR as a result of the inconsistencies and for some days, parts of town that usually experienced heavy traffic were almost empty although major traffic was experienced around warehouse junction as a result of the very long queue formed by those who wanted to purchase fuel from NNPC.
