The Condition of Imo State Tourism Board in a Period Tourism Should Matter Most – [Pictures]
One thing that never stops to amaze me about Christmas is how it electrifies everywhere no matter how people wail that there is no money in circulation. Where money comes from for people to spend (mostly on frivolities) during Christmas celebrations is something that still beats me.
Anyways, that is hardly the reason for this post.
I visited the Imo State Tourism Board today to meet someone and I couldn’t help noticing how deserted the place was. In all, I saw about five very elderly men excluding the person I came to meet and it was just 11am!
All the time I was there, I never stopped wondering why the place was so dry at this time of the year! Shouldn’t they be organizing tours, events and even carnivals like the one that held on Monday. This place should be in overdrive at this time of the year! But unfortunately, the reverse was case.
This goes a long way to tell the story of the state of affairs in Imo state and probably some other states in the country. So much under-utilization of resources and neglect.
Looking at the statement on their sign post, I just shook my head at the irony of what was staring at me. Tourism promotes Peace, Unity and Development indeed!
Check out some pictures I took.
