Fedral Polythecnic Nekede, Owerri held her 38th matriculation ceremony yesterday at the school premises.
The Rector, Dr. Mrs Celestine Njoku while welcoming guests to the ceremony disclosed that only 5000 students were given admission out of the many that applied. She encouraged the students to count themselves lucky and be grateful to God for the opportunity and their matriculation.
The Rector went ahead to give a brief history of the institution. She highlighted major changes that have taken place since it’s inception and used the opportunity to inform the audience that the departments of Mineral resources and petroleum technology have been approved by the federal council.
Dr. Njoku advised the matriculating students to shun inappropriate dressing, cultism, truancy, violence and exam malpractice and uphold the schools regulations. She also advised them to focus on their education and remember their creator in the days of their youth. She used biblical injunctions from Col 2:15-16, Deut 21:6 and ecclesaistics to buttress her point.
Three students were given scholarships by the Rector (only female student in physics elect, only male student in office technology and only female in Agric technology).
In her address as the representative of the matriculating students, Anyanwu Chizoba from the department of Computer science thanked God Almighty, staff and management for the opportunity given to them.
