NYSC Corp Members Holds Seminar for IMSU Students

Corp members operating under the Good Career and Relationship (GCR) held  a seminar for students of Imo state university last week. The program which was attended by a good number of students at the Comassaie theater arts hall of the institution was aimed to provide them with skills and knowledge that will assist them after graduation.

Speaking at the event, the staff adviser of Imo State University student affairs, Prince Sam. Ezeanyika disclosed that GCR is a forum targeted to create abilities, build a sense of direction and national independence. According to him, the forum also enables students appreciate life after graduation which involves not only looking for white collar jobs but acquiring skills. He therefore expressed gratitude to the corp members for organizing such a program which helps to equip interested students with skills to adapt in a globalised economy.

Delivering her lecture, the Head of department of Mass Communication, Dr. Nkem Fab-Ukozor talked on the usefulness of communication, prayer and being genuine to oneself and God. She charged the students to develop a strong will to always withstand distractions.

Commenting on the program, a student from the department of Insurance, Eronini Cynthia stated that it was a nice seminar and believes that people will be transformed as a result of it. Jombo Nzubechi from English & Literary studies said “The event was a successful one, educative and entertaining. Kudos to the organisers”.

Responding on behalf of the organizing team, the head of GCR, Adesoji Ifeoluwa thanked God for a successful outreach. She said she felt blessed to have such turnout and calibre of  persons who talked to the students. A co-organizer, Odunlan Temilola disclosed that the event appeared disorganized  when it started but turned out to be awesome at the end of the day. Dipe Juliet, another organizer said “it is worth it even though it was not easy. I am so happy that GCR was a reality against all odds.”

The program was supported by the university media and students entertainers such as National spectator, city star, Mc worthy, Elo njja and others.
