Gov. Rochas charges Imo children to shun Tribalism


rochasImo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has charged Nigerian children to imbibe the spirit of nationalism and think positive for the nation in order to guarantee a better future for the country. Governor Okorocha who said this while celebrating the nation’s 53rd Independence Anniversary with children at the Government House, Owerri maintained that tribalism has eaten deep into the fabric of the nation’s unity and called for the spirit of sacrifice and oneness to move the nation the nation forward. He observed that Nigeria is the most blessed nation of the world with both natural and human resources, and expressed hope that if the enormous potentials of the country are harnessed, the country will in due course emerge as one of the fast growing economy of the world. Governor Okorocha regretted that some Nigerians only project the bad side of the country without recourse to its positive aspects and charged the children to be proud of their nation, and believe in themselves with the view to shun corrupt practices. He reminded the children that responsibility of leadership will soon fall on them and enjoined them to aspire to do better than the generation before them. The Deputy Governor Prince Eze Madumere said that with free education in the state, a wonderful platform has been given to Imo children to prove their mettle. He then charged the children to be studious and good ambassadors of the state. Highlights of the occasion included gift presentations, cutting of cake, dancing completion, interactive forum with the children and the press.
