FUTO warns host communities over land encroachment



THE Pro Chancellor and Chairman of the governing council of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Imo State, Dr. E.M.I. Enemuo, has  warned host communities of the institution to desist from actions capable of frustrating the growth of the university.

Dr Enemuo, who frowned at the incessant encroachment of land belonging to the university by some indigenes of the host communities comprising Ihiagwa, Obinze, Eziobodo and Okolochi, all in the Owerri West Local Government Area of the state to desist from encroaching on the land belonging to FUTO.

Enemuo stated this while performing the ground breaking ceremony of the staff quarters of the institution.

He said that the august ceremony was to him, both the worst of times and the best of times because “we are here today to take the very first step towards bequeathing to humanity, a befitting place of residence for the staff of the very first university of technology in Nigeria.”
