The 2014 Odenigbo lecture series kicked off yesterday at the ‘Obi Odenigbo’ lecture venue inside Assumpta Cathedral, Owerri.
Traditionally, it commences with an evening of various cultural displays from different cultural groups, choirs and parishes across and beyond the Owerri Arch-diocese.
The Arch diocesan choral champions, Immaculate Conception Catholic Parish Choir, Amakohia, St Thomas Aquinas Chaplaincy, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Assumpta Cathedral Young voices etc were among the various choirs that performed. Various musical and drama presentations were also displayed.
All presentations centered on the theme for this year “OCHICHI OMA: Olileanya Ohanaeze” which translates to “GOOD LEADERSHIP: The expectation of the People”.
This year’s lecturer is Professor Chinedu Nwajiuba and will commence today after an opening mass at same venue.
The lecture is an annual event initiated by His Grace Bishop Anthony J.V Obinna to promote the speaking and sustenance of Igbo Language, culture and traditions.
