Lawmakers in Imo state yesterday protested the non-payment of their salaries and allowances for two months. The lawmakers suspended their plenary session yesterday to proceed to the office of the states’ accountant general to lay their grievances.
Part of their complaints was also the non-payment of staff in some government establishments for the past two months.
Their mission was however, not accomplished as the Accountant General of the state, Mrs. S.N. Udogu was not available as she was attending to other official matters.
According to Vanguard news website, there are insinuations that Mrs. Udogu was promptly alerted of the lawmakers’ protest march and she left office before their arrival.
The lawmakers also marched to the office of the Commission for Finance before returning to conclude their session for the day.
