Imo State University fails NUC accreditation

A very unfortunate information that is emerging indicates that some departments in Imo State University Owerri failed to be accredited during the last accreditation exercise of the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC). The affected departments are Law, Medicine and Surgery, and English and Literary studies. I am still working to get the full list of the affected departments. A lecturer who spoke me said he was most surprised that Law failed the accreditation for the second consecutive time. He said his surprise is based on the fact that Faculty has put in a lot of work to stand out. With improvements in both structures and quality of academic staff.

Reacting to how this will affect the departments, he said they will not admit students for the new academic year until they are accredited by the regulatory body.

An ex student of the Institution wrote this poetry to share his sadness over the news.
