Since it is always good to start from the known to the unknown, we will kick off the series with a place that almost everyone knows – The Oguta Wonder Lake. The Oguta lake is said to be the largest natural lake located in Oguta, Imo state and is believed to be a marine base for the Biafran Navy during the civil war.
Oguta is one of the villages in Imo state and is best known for its resort hotel, its challenging golf course and its rich cultural diversity. It is also popular for for its huge oil and gas deposits although the town is notorious for their deadly and persistent community clashes.
The Lake situated in Oguta is a fine piece of water and an example of the wonders of nature; a place where two rivers with different colours meet, hence the name WONDER LAKE.
The lake attracts tourists from far and near Oguta. They visit in large numbers for relaxation and picnics.
The Oguta lake is a wonderful place to behold and most people believe that it is the most beautiful natural spot in Imo state. The popular Oputa family where controversial Nigerian act, Charly Boy comes from.
